Youth Groups

At OnCare Community Services, our Youth Groups are designed to provide a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for adolescents and young adults with developmental disabilities and mental health needs. These groups offer a space where participants can connect with peers, build social skills, and explore their interests in a structured and inclusive setting.

Peer Support and Friendship Building:  Our Youth Groups provide a unique opportunity for participants to meet and interact with others who share similar experiences. We emphasize peer support and encourage participants to build strong, positive relationships with their peers.

Social Skills Development:  We offer activities and discussions that focus on developing social skills such as communication, empathy, and cooperation. These sessions help participants navigate social situations more effectively and confidently.

Interest-Based Activities: Our groups are tailored to the interests of the participants, whether it's gaming, music, arts, sports, or technology. By focusing on shared interests, we create an environment where participants feel engaged and excited to participate.

Leadership Opportunities:  We encourage participants to take on leadership roles within the group, whether by leading an activity, organizing a group project, or mentoring younger members. These opportunities help build confidence and foster a sense of responsibility.

Community Engagement: Our Youth Groups include activities that encourage participants to engage with their community, such as volunteer projects, local events, and outings. These experiences help participants develop a sense of independence and a connection to the wider community.

Workshops and Guest Speakers:  We regularly host workshops and invite guest speakers to discuss topics relevant to youth with autism, such as self-advocacy, career planning, and mental health. These sessions provide valuable insights and practical advice for participants as they navigate their adolescent and young adult years.

Safe and Inclusive Environment:  OnCare is committed to providing a safe and inclusive space where every participant feels respected and valued. We tailor our programs to meet the needs of all participants, ensuring that everyone can fully participate and benefit from the group experience.

Experienced Facilitators:  Our Youth Groups are led by trained professionals who have experience working with adolescents and young adults with autism. They are dedicated to creating a positive and supportive group dynamic where everyone can thrive.

Participant-Centered Approach:  We design our group activities around the interests and needs of the participants, ensuring that each session is relevant, engaging, and enjoyable.

Focus on Growth and Development: Our program is structured to support the personal growth and development of each participant, helping them build the skills and confidence they need to succeed in various aspects of life.

Family Involvement: We believe in maintaining open communication with families, and providing regular updates on group activities and progress. We welcome family input and encourage collaboration to ensure the best outcomes for each participant.
